FUNDAMENTALS.

 

AN INTRODUCTION.

… to the MIND… of Shiro… on the Concepts of NINPO.

 

A LIL… BACK-CHAT…

 

Within the ARTS OF WAR and the combat oriented MARTIAL WAYS and TRADITIONS of Japan; there are Concepts, Philosophies and Discourses, Scrolls, Denshō and so on. These in many ways… give meaning to and help to define that ART and/or Way.

An Idea or Concept, a Guide,.. oft too… an overview.

Usually Two kinds,.. sometimes three. Physical-Mental-Divine.

 

These in turn,.. each represent an APPROACH or METHOD of doing… to apply to situations of interest.

 

These also tend to be carried through and beyond a singular generation of practitioners and indeed are oft generated by important figures of that particular Tradition and bestowed akin to a LEGACY,.. in that, they were obviously considered somewhat integral and necessary in formulation of understanding of said Tradition… at that time and place and then on.

 

 

These i term… THE FUNDAMENTALs (click).

HEAVEN, EARTH and MAN.

This NINPO Training Device… is rather unique (click).

The SOKE who enabled and devised this Scroll Set were the Lineage Holders of a large variety of MARTIAL WAYS and TRADITIONS.

This in itself became problematical as Teaching a Combat oriented ART and Form oft leads… all over the place. Sometimes it seems… to places the Sensei addressed elsewhere, else-time and place and so on.

Thus… consolidation,.. became the choice option.

And thus… these herein Scrolls.

TEN CHI JIN…HEAVEN, EARTH, MAN.

 

The Scrolls utilise the Fundamental Movements and Techniques of EACH SCHOOL or RYU of the 9 Traditions (click) as Concepts.

These Technique Concepts are open ended… infinite variety, multi-level IDEAS.

Expressions not Endings.

Oft revisited by those who understand and appreciate… the Basics… so-called.

 

Presented in an NINPO ELEMENT Type Naming Process/Grouping.

 

 

Practicing the Scroll Tech.,..

…illustrate to the Student aware and looking;

…the ways to move, to evade into safety zones, how moves and turns also generate power, leverage, positional and physical advantages and so on.

 

Other Tech.,.. highlight such as Strategic and/or useful Body Weaponry movements/counters.

There are even Tech.,.. using tech/basic Chemistry as Defense or Strategy. A wide range of wide-ranging Techniques.

Useful indeed. Lots of contrast.

 

 

Free Sparring in Japan during the early 1990’s also meant dealing with… a lot of contrasts.

A Training Tip from Shiro here,.. is to get around… the Class where you be.

Adapt to the contrasts.

Mix up your Class opponents/partners whenever you can.

 

Training with opponents who are MUCH TALLER/HEAVIER is a MUST.

In the REAL… you have no say in the choice.

 

 

At that time… Shiro’s choices…

were such as ANTHONY NETZLER, ED LOMAX, ROBERT BAUMGARTEN and DARREN HORVARTH.

Tough choice indeed.

 

I had nick-names for them all.

They know this not…btw.

 

DARREN H. was the GREEK GOD,.. a STATUE… (click) Btw,.. he is not Greek but… Physique and approach… ARE… CLASSICAL.

ROBERT B. was the DOLPHIN… (click) Btw,.. he is not a Dolphin but… sleek, quick… and Smashed… like a TIDAL WAVE.

 

ED LOMAX,.. (click)my first intro to an INSTRUCTOR of the BUJINKAN… we trained and travelled together for a time… housed together too… (Japan and Australia…), we were the first south aussies to live and train with SOKE + CO in 1990 etc..: …and… to me;

… he was the SPIDER/SERPENT SENSEI… he’s not icky at all… but ties me in knots… … as wise as a Serpent… web weaving away my counters… like the Constellation OPHIUCUS…does for… Sagittarius.?.!. my Zodiac… (click);.. anyway… and:

 

The MACHINE = ANTHONY N.

… Cos… he is.

 

 

(… Next time YOU Train with him… ask him of his first encounter with the 1990 Entertainment Media of Japan… AND what he had to do… to his Classmates… Shiro included… to please them… the Media that is.

This Tale involved a quite lengthy involved Combat Scenario… which WE ALL HAD TO REPEAT…OFTEN… TILL THE CAMERA PEEPS FINALLY SAID OK, CUT… MANY TIMES.!.

…basically he beat us all good… MANY times that day… IN THE SAME WAY.

 

Was glad THEY SUPPLIED THE FOOD + DRINK FOR FUEL THANKFULLY (click)… slept well that night too.
