asset to your ARTS OF SELF-DEFENCE.

There has been much appreciation of the capabilities

of THE SPEAR and it’s various forms. This

acknowledgment is inclusion in the LEGENDS of old.

 

From JAPAN + ASIA to the shores of old SPARTAN soil…

and beyond- The SPEAR is known.

 

 

 

 

 

The HISTORY of JAPAN has included many

MARTIAL HEROES. Several indeed were WARRIORS

OF THE WAY OF THE SPEAR. As retold (click)

in the ORIGIN LEGEND OF JAPAN too,..

THE SPEAR was even known by the Gods…

and used by Divine Beings.

 

The following HERO is admittedly not divine.

Though he too, was a man of THE WAY.

 

 A HERO AND HIS WAY.

somewhat LEGENDARY…

reasons for him being here afore a SPEAR

of a SLIDE-SHOW:

 

 

1 = … HATTTORI HANZO… is his name.

2 = …see above + he used a SPEAR.!.

3 = …see above + above that + his SPEAR… is

STILL… HERE.!?…

The HANZO SPEAR,.. LIKE HATTORI is

from the SENGOKU period…

generally termed. 1450-1600 A.D. thereabouts.

 

Known as a SAMURAI and SHINOBI friend alike.

Helped save the life of IEYASU TOKUGAWA FIRST

SHOGUN (click).

 

 

Helped too in setting the SHOGUN’s daughters free

from castle confines. A Warrior with many diplomatic

and tactical senses. He, his troops and many NINJA,..

kept and ensured guard during many of this SHOGUN + co‘s

journeys thru lands torn by internal clan warring and strife.

 

The  SPEAR’s extra reach, methods of displacement, movement

and in particular; special sets of slip-thrust and

palm-heel flick-push type techniques oft decimated

attacking Swords-men.

 

Training would also involve such as the various

and odd angular/oblique entry points targeting

and techniques to cover most possibilities during combat.

Special SPEAR Techniques were also formulated to both

protect against and attack the mounted Samurai Warrior too.

 

 

Developed over time and many MARTIAL actions

and incidents. These had proven their worth in combat

and many HEROES of the LEGENDS were well-versed

in the application and handling of many varieties

and oft suiting their choice of weaponry against

the opponents with such advantages in mind.

 

In particular,.. THE STICK WAYS and the SPEAR

oft had much cross-over and adaption of the others

tech. that worked well in such situations.

Guess they got that point indeed.

 

 

HATTORI and his LEGEND are honored in such memorials

as  THE IMPERIAL PALACE HANZŌMON GATE,..

and the train route thru the suburbs of his home

areas bear his name too.

 

His memorial remains are now interred in the

SAINEN-JI TEMPLE COMPLEX;

along with his CEREMONIAL HELMET… (click)
