In Japanese… = KU (click).

 

10 = ju

9 = ku/kyu

8 = hachi

7 = nana/shichi

6 = roku

5 = go

4 = shi/yon

3 = san

2 = ni

1 = ichi

0 = rei

 

 

In general Our World LEGENDS indicate… 4 is a CIRCLE…

whilst… 9 IS A CYCLE.

 

Traditions that use such as the 4 Cardinal Points or

the 4 Quarters or N/S/W/E etc… are describing…

a Circle or such.

E.g. NOT a CYCLE.

 

For a CYCLE to occur… there MUST BE AT LEAST…

TWO CIRCLES (..made…).

Thus… 4 + 4 (…+ THE LINK=) +1 = 9,.. so…

…9 = A CYCLE OF CIRCLE(s).

 

Thus… The Number 9 in Ninpo.

A CYCLE NUMBER.

Part of the Survival Concepts inherent NINPO include

the facility or mode of OMINDIRECTIONAL.

That is…

 

NINPO CAN BE APPLIED FROM/TO ANY/ALL DIRECTIONS.

ANY.. EVERY… WHERE.

 

This factor btw is oft responsible for the inherent huge

and great diversity within what has become known

as the KIHON KATA… though atypical KATA tis not

indeed. The displays of KIHON oft bemuse

the non-NINPO due to the flowing,

somewhat dance-like…

 

yet obviously vigorous techniques that

8 such = 4 + 4… 2 CIRCLEs/CYCLEs per se.

KU = 9…

KU…JI-KIRI = 9 x/of 9 = 81 HAND-SIGNS (MUDRA- KETSUIN).

E.g. A 9 Set of such as :

rin, pyo, toh, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen.

 

 

九鬼神流

KU… KUKISHINDEN ryu.

 

• 九  = KU = 9.
• 鬼  = KI…(kami).
• 神  = SHINDEN = Spirit Tradition.
• 流  = ryu = school/clan/family etc.

The KUKISHIN ryu is still contained within several olden

and modern MARTIAL ART WAYS.

• Kukishin-ryū Bojutsu. Soke Fumon Tanaka.
• Hontai Yōshin-ryū. Soke Kyoichi Inoue.
• Motoha Yoshin ryū. Soke Yasumoto Akiyoshi.
• Takagi ryū. Soke Kusuhara Juhei.
• BUJINKAN teaches a branch called Kuki Shinden-Ryū Happō Biken under Soke M.Hatsumi.
• and Soke Unsui Manaka of the JINENKAN and Soke Shoto Tanemura of the GENBUKAN have their own respective branches also.

 

The KUKI family which contains the family line,

is called “Kukishinden Tenshin Hyoho”,

led by Eichoku Takatsuka under the supervision

of the current 28th Soke, Ietaka Kuki.

 

The Kukishinden Tenshin Hyoho is a different

Line. Kogenshakai teaches a branch

called “Kukushin-ryu Tenshin Hyoho”

under Fumio Hirokawa and David Alonso.

 

These branches maintain their own lineages,

techniques and histories,

usually stemming from the main family line.

 

 

 

• KUMOGAKURE ryu.

This Tradition is oft referred to as a Hidden

School of the nine (click).

The transmission is mainly oral (kuden) to Students of.
